No. 2 Baylor sinks 15th consecutive win … Villanova here … headlines go here

Baylor, the No. 2 team in AP’s Top 25 men’s colleges basketball rankings, has wins its 15th game in a row. Jared Butler scored 19 points and had six assists, helping the Bears overcome a 12-point second-half deficit to defeat Oklahoma State 75-68. Freddie Gillespie had 17 points and four rebounds and Devonte Bandoo scored 14 points for Baylor. Oklahoma State has lost five straight.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jermaine Samuels scored 19 points and made the decisive three-point play that put No. 14 Villanova ahead for good in a 61-55 victory over Connecticut. Collin Gillespie scored 12 points and Villanova made 11 of 23 3-pointers. The Wildcats’ 10th win in 11 games came after they needed overtime Tuesday at home to survive a serious scare by DePaul and win by four points. The Huskies have lost four of five games.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Lamar Stevens scored 14 of his 24 points in the second half and Penn State upset No. 21 Ohio State 90-76. Myreon Jones scored 20 points, Seth Lundy added 12 and Myles Dread had 10 for the Nittany Lions who snapped a three-game losing streak. The Buckeyes are likely to see their ranking drop as they’ve now lost five of their last six games.

NEW YORK (AP) — No. 18 Seton Hall now won eight in a row and unbeaten in the Big East so far this season. The Pirates beat St. John’s 82-79. Myles Powell scored 29 points, Quincy McKnight added 20 points and Romaro Gill had 14 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks for the Pirates. Seton Hall is 6-0 in conference games for the first time since the league’s inception in 1979.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — It’s still open for another couple weeks, but the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame will soon close to the public for the final phase of a $23 million renovation project. The Springfield facility’s interactive Jerry Colangelo Court of Dreams will be fully redeveloped during the closure. The renovation includes the refurbishment of the hall’s dome, the addition of new technology and visitor experiences. It will be closed to visitors from Feb. 3 until March 25.
