Militants in Gaza have fired a barrage of rockets into southern Israel, hitting several homes.
The Israeli military says it has been hitting back with air strikes and tank fire at Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip.
The militant group Islamic Jihad said it had launched the rocket attacks in response to violence at the border on Friday, in which four Palestinians, including two Hamas militants, were killed after an attack injured two Israeli soldiers.
