Making the Most of Staying at Home

Nobody’s traveling for fun right now, and a lot of people are spending all day, every day, cooped up at home. You may, of course, be working your regular hours in a home office or at the kitchen table, but when you’re not, you could try to make the best of the situation. Here are the ways that Wirecutter editors are keeping busy (or at least sane) during their off-work hours while stuck at home.

Your hands are going through a lot these days with all that washing — give them (and yourself) a D.I.Y. spa session with these hydrating and moisturizing treatments. ($15 from Amazon)

Been on the fence about investing in a home-theater projector? With some studios streaming current releases, now is the time. This one is good for smaller spaces. ($750 from B & H Photo)

One of Wirecutter’s favorite adult board games for beginners, this medieval city-building game can also be played remotely, via Android and iOS apps and game consoles. ($28 from Amazon)

Even where “shelter-in-place” restrictions are in effect, going outside to exercise (alone) is likely to be allowed. A fitness tracker can serve as gentle encouragement. ($150 from Walmart)

This budget tent makes a great indoors fort for children — or lets them camp out overnight in the backyard, if you have one and of course, climate permitting. ($65 from Amazon)

Breathable and long-wearing, these slippers have a thick rubber outsole, so they are fine for stepping outside to get the mail or sign for a package. ($80 from L. L. Bean)
